AIC IIT Delhi was established at IIT Delhi Technopark, Sonipat, with a vision to foster technology-driven entrepreneurship and create a strong regional innovation ecosystem. The Centre began its journey by bringing together infrastructure, mentorship, industry expertise and institutional support to help innovators transform ideas into impactful ventures.
AIC-IIT Delhi
AIC-IIT Delhi is an Atal Incubation Centre established at the I-TEC Technopark, IIT Delhi Sonipat Campus, Sonipat (Haryana) with the vision of fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and technology-driven startups. It is one among the several Atal Incubation Centres that is being established in the country and funded by Atal Innovation Mission set up by NITI Aayog. AIC-IIT Delhi Incubation Centre is registered as a not-for-profit Section 8 Company (erstwhile Section 25 Company under the Companies Act, 1956) and will be guided by well-qualified and competent Board of Directors.
Our vision is to build a vibrant, inclusive and industry-connected innovation ecosystem that empowers entrepreneurs to transform ideas into impactful and scalable ventures. We aim to provide startups with the right blend of infrastructure, advanced technology facilities, expert mentorship, technical and business support, industry and institutional partnerships, capacity-building opportunities, and access to relevant funding and market networks. By fostering collaboration among startups, academia, industry, government and investors, we aspire to enable entrepreneurs to validate technologies, develop innovative products, solve real-world challenges and accelerate their journey from ideation to commercialization. Through this ecosystem, AIC-IIT Delhi seeks to nurture a new generation of technology-driven enterprises that create sustainable economic, social and environmental impact.
IIT Delhi
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the 23 IITs created to be Centres of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering, and technology in India.
Established as College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute was later declared as an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and was renamed as “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi”. It was then accorded the status of a Deemed University with powers to decide its own academic policy, to conduct its own examinations, and to award its own degrees.
Since its inception, over 48000 have graduated from IIT Delhi in various disciplines including Engineering, Physical Sciences, Management and Humanities & Social Sciences. Of these, nearly 5070 received Ph.D. degrees. The number of students who graduated with B.Tech. degree is over 15738. The rest obtained Master’s Degree in Engineering, Sciences and Business Administration. These alumni today work as scientists, technologists, business managers and entrepreneurs. There are several alumni who have moved away from their original disciplines and have taken to administrative services, active politics or are with NGOs. In doing so, they have contributed significantly to building of this nation, and to industrialization around the world.
FITT
Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi has been the vanguard of knowledge transfer activities from academia since its inception in 1992. This techno-commercial organization from academia is counted amongst the successful such organizations. FITT provides superior program management services and is steadily increasing its operational landscape. The varied roles of FITT can be seen in enabling innovations and technopreneurship, business partnerships, technology development, consultancy, collaborative R&D, technology commercialization, development programs, corporate memberships etc. These roles are necessitated by the key agenda of the Foundation to showcase the Institute’s “intellectual ware” to industry, and thereby unlock its knowledgebase and inculcate industrial relevance in teaching and research at IIT Delhi.
DSIR has recognized FITT as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO). As a SIRO, FITT is eligible for full custom duty exemption for import of capital goods, raw materials and technology know-how that are required for execution of R&D programmes sponsored by the industry.

AIC IIT Delhi expanded its incubation capabilities and strengthened its connection with the IIT Delhi ecosystem. With access to prototyping infrastructure, mentors, industry networks and institutional expertise, the Centre continued to support startups in moving from ideation and proof-of-concept towards product development and market readiness.
2022 — Expanding the Innovation Ecosystem
Enabling Ideas to Become Prototypes
AIC IIT Delhi strengthened its focus on product development and prototyping by enhancing access to advanced infrastructure, technical facilities and expert support. The Centre continued to create opportunities for innovators to validate their ideas, build prototypes and take their technologies closer to commercialization.
2023 — Connecting Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Launching the Sonipat Startup Summit
AIC IIT Delhi launched the Sonipat Startup Summit, creating a dedicated platform to bring together startups, innovators, investors, industry leaders, MSMEs and academia. The initiative strengthened the regional startup ecosystem by creating opportunities for pitching, mentorship, networking, collaboration and access to new markets.
2024 — Expanding Strategic Partnerships
Building Stronger Industry & Institutional Connections
AIC IIT Delhi accelerated its growth through strategic collaborations with leading industries, institutions and ecosystem partners. The Centre expanded its sector-focused initiatives and strengthened support for startups through industry connect, mentorship, technology access, market opportunities and innovation-led programs.
2025 — Accelerating DeepTech & Industry Innovation
From Incubation to Industry-Led Acceleration
AIC IIT Delhi entered a new phase of growth with the launch of major industry-led initiatives, including the Bharat Byte Semiconductor Accelerator with Cadence and the Bharat Safety Program with Honda India Foundation. These programs strengthened AIC's focus on DeepTech, semiconductor innovation, mobility and road safety while helping startups move from technology development towards validation, deployment and commercialization.
2026 — Scaling Innovation & Impact
Accelerating the Next Generation of Technology Ventures
AIC IIT Delhi continues to scale its impact as a technology business incubator, supporting a growing portfolio of startups through incubation, accelerator programs, advanced prototyping infrastructure, mentorship, industry partnerships and market access. In 2026, the Centre further expanded its innovation ecosystem through initiatives such as Sonipat Startup Summit 4.0, the Mini AI Lab, Sport Tech Accelerator and industry-focused startup programs, strengthening its mission to help technology ventures move from idea to prototype, prototype to market, and market to scale.
